The coronavirus has thrown up a series of questions about people’s rights in relation to their employment. Organisations and employees will need to work together to deal with the disruption caused. It is important that people be reassured that if they catch coronavirus they will be entitled to sick pay.
If they are quarantined because they are suspected to have coronavirus the chancellor has said they will be entitled to sick pay even if they are showing no symptoms. If your organisation tells you to work from home you are entitled to full pay. If your employer tells you not to come to work, and you cannot work from home, you are entitled to full pay.
However, it is worth noting that if you are worried about coronavirus and decide not to come into work, against the wishes of your organisation, then you are not entitled to pay.
